1 block (14 oz) of extra-firm tofu, pressed
1 cup (120g) panko breadcrumbs
¼ cup (30g) all-purpose flour
¼ cup (15g) nutritional yeast
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup (120ml) unsweetened non-dairy milk (e.g., almond, soy)
2 tablespoons olive oil, for brushing or spraying
Instructions
Prep the Tofu: The key to true crispiness is pressing the tofu well. Once pressed, slice the block in half lengthwise to create two thinner blocks. Then, cut each block into even strips, roughly ½-inch wide and 3 inches long.
Make the Breading: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the panko breadcrumbs, all-purpose flour, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
