Ingredients:
2 large pears (e.g., Anjou, Bosc, or Bartlett), ripe but firm
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon honey (optional, but adds a lovely glaze)
For Serving (optional):
Greek yogurt or ice cream
Oats or granola
Drizzle of honey
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the pears: Wash and dry the pears thoroughly. Cut them in half lengthwise. Using a melon baller or a small spoon, scoop out the core and seeds from the center of each half. Trim a small slice off the back (the rounded skin side) to help them stand upright on the baking sheet, if needed.
Mix the topping: In a small bowl, stir together the ground cinnamon and granulated sugar.
Assemble the pairs: Place the pear halves, cut-side up, on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a shallow baking dish.
Add the flavor: Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly into the cavity and over the cut surface of each pear half. For an extra touch of sweetness and a glossy finish, drizzle a tiny bit of honey over the cinnamon-sugar on each pear.
Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pears are tender and the topping is bubbly and slightly caramelized. (The baking time may vary depending on the size and variety of your pears; check tenderness with a fork.)
Serve: Let the pears cool slightly for a few minutes. Serve warm, topped with a dollop of Greek yogurt or a scoop of ice cream, a sprinkle of oats or granola for crunch, and a final drizzle of honey, if desired.
